Things to do in Soller Train

4.4/5 (4331)

No holiday to Majorca’s complete without a ride on one of its most famous landmarks, the Soller Train. This historic railway has been on the go since 1912, shuttling people between Palma and the laidback town of Soller for over 100 years. The journey between the two is about 27 kilometres long, most of which weaves through the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains, meaning you’re treated to incredible views of Majorca’s countryside. You’ll definitely want to bring a camera when you ride it – don’t worry about missing anything, either, the train’s fitted with huge windows to ensure your view is the best it can be.

Disappointed for sure, 07 Oct 2025

“We've done this tour once before and it was very good. However this time we spent far too long at the lluc monastery An hour should be plenty. Boat trip cancelled due to weather but we were not informed until last minute. On arriving at Soller we were given just 7 minutes to use the loo and get on tram Then ushered onto Soller railway immediately from tram once again with no free time. The whole day was rushed except time in Sa Calobra where boat trip would have been. TOTAL WASTE of day & money”

Dissatisfied , 07 Oct 2025

“Due to mixed nationalities on the coach, the guide although very talented on speaking many languages spoke a few words in English then German then French then Spanish or Swedish. It got very confusing and therefore we came away with no knowledge of the island. The whole tour felt rushed as we didn't have time to browse many of the places we visited. Also due to unforeseen weather conditions we were unable to do part of the trip by boat. Very expensive and not enjoyable. Would not recommend”

“Places of interest were too short. Long stops had little interest. Boat trip cancelled resulting in most of same route being driven twice.”

“Our trip was a mixture of German and English speaking people. The guide was very noticeablely biassed towards the German speaking people. When giving talks, he would talk humourously for maybe 15 minutes non stop in German, and give a cursory .non humourous 5 minutes talk in English. It was very frustrating and disappointing. No information was given about the train journey,NAT the time except in summary, about 3 hours later, when we were on the return journey in the coach.”
