Things to do in Soller Train

4.4/5 (1599)

No holiday to Majorca’s complete without a ride on one of its most famous landmarks, the Soller Train. This historic railway has been on the go since 1912, shuttling people between Palma and the laidback town of Soller for over 100 years. The journey between the two is about 27 kilometres long, most of which weaves through the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains, meaning you’re treated to incredible views of Majorca’s countryside. You’ll definitely want to bring a camera when you ride it – don’t worry about missing anything, either, the train’s fitted with huge windows to ensure your view is the best it can be.

“The guide was efficient but not friendly. Gave very little information about the island or what we were seeing but detailed information about the days timetable. We Didn't get chance to see any of Soller, herded like cattle from train to tram to boat with no time for toilet, cigarette or a drink. Lunch stop was far too long only restaurants and no shops nothing to see. Monastery was beautiful but not enough time to fully enjoy. Would not recommend especially for that with reduced mobility.”

“The 3 places visited were beautiful. However the pick up took over an hour on top of the journey to Valldemossa. Total journey was 2.5 hours. Information from the guide was limited on the way and non existent on the way back unfortunately which was a shame as we could have heard all about the beautiful island.”

“I feel we were herded like sheep on the first half of the trip, we travelled on a bus/train/tram and boat all within the first 2 and a half hours. We would have liked to stop in Soller itself which looked interesting and not at the Monastery which didn't. There were also too many winding roads which made my wife sick on the coach. Also, maybe not use a catamaran boat on sea, It needs to be made clear when booking that this trip is not suitable for anyone with travel sickness.”

“While the train, tram and boat rides were enjoyable, too much time was spent in an area with little to offer, except eating in average quality, self service restaurants. This time would have been much better used in Soller or Lluc monetary.”
