Things to do in Amalfi Coast

4.5/5 (730)

The Amalfi Coast is the gem of Southern Italy, known all over the world for the richness of its nature and its beautiful landscapes: overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, it extends along 37 km of coastline and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997.

Characterized by a succession of picture-perfect cliffs, bays, towns and villages - such as Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, Atrania and Vietri sul Mare - the Amalfi Coast is known for its beautiful architecture, the mild climate, and the marvelous landscapes which have inspired so many artists and travelers throughout the centuries.

The Amalfi Coast is also known for its local products. In addition to the delicious seafood, don't miss the opportunity to try the anchovies and canned fish products of Cetara, the traditional cheese from the Lattari Mountains, the olive oil from the hills of Salerno, and Limoncello - a liqueur obtained from locally grown lemons. Moreover, you'll have a chance to admire Vietri's famous intricately painted ceramics.

There's plenty of things to do in this region: take a dip in the cobalt blue waters, walk along the spectacular Sentiero degli Dei trekking path, or visit the sumptuous Duomo di Amalfi, which dates back to the 9th century.

“Incredibly uncomfortable. If we had known the boat was so small we would not have booked the trip. Journey too fast, we were told to sit up front where there wasn't any seating and little to hold on to. Pretty dangerous actually.”

“The ride along the coastline was lovely, very good Driver. Unfortunately the guide insisted on talking incessantly about her life throughout the journey, pointing out things of interest as an afterthought. The walking tour of Almalfi was pointless. The pace was unsuitable for some of the guests and the unchecked headsets kept cutting out. It felt like she wanted to get rid of us asap. The time in Almalfi was far too long. An earlier ferry would have been better. Very disappointing trip.”

“Positano was beautiful and worth visiting, but we needed more time there. I missed the Amalfi Coast views sitting on the wrong side of the coach, therefore photo stops would have been nice. Dinner was lovely. In Ravello, the guide left before everyone got off the coach, which was difficult for an older member of our group. We also struggled to hear her through the headphones as she was so far in front and out of reach for signal. We needed longer there, we seemed to be in a rush to get back”

“Tour guide Alex - Great. Coach journey was fine with a couple of stops. Not sure the boat to Solerno was really worth doing, but it was good to see some of the coastline”
